ChronoTrack Systems believes that when you consider the total life cycle of each of the major timing systems, the D-tag has a lowest overall environmental impact. Still, we recognize that because the D-tag is a single-use solution and athletes throw away the strip after the race is an issue that we have a responsibility to address. That’s why ChronoTrack has introduced our D-tag Take-Back program for timing providers, event organizers and athletes. The Take-Back program provides bins to timers and events for the collection and return of used D-tags. Once the D-Tags are returned, ChronoTrack will then safely dispose of the units according to industry environmental standards, or reuse the tags.

Here’s how it works:

For Event Organizers

  1. Create an onsite disposal option for athletes. We recommend contacting our environmental consulting partner Athletes for a Fit Planet for support in this area. Their initial consultation is free.
  2. Contact your timing provider for your Take-Back bins.
  3. Mail the used D-tags back to ChronoTrack at 111 E. Diamond Ave, Evansville IN, 47711.
  4. Keep the bins for your next race, return them to your timing provider for reuse, or recycle the bins with your cardboard waste.

For Athletes

  1. Remove the D-tag from your shoe.
  2. Return the D-tag to ChronoTrack Systems at 111 E. Diamond Ave, Evansville IN, 47711.

For Race Timers

  1. Contact ChronoTrack to order Take-Back bins to provide to your event organizers.
  2. Consider integrating a full-service take-back option for your event organizers to minimize their mailing cost.
  3. Mail used D-tags back to ChronoTrack Systems at 111 E. Diamond Ave, Evansville IN, 47711.
