Evansville, IN (June 17, 2009) – The Race director of the Spring Lake Five turned to a trusted, accurate and disposable partner for modern timing technology. This partner streamlined his registration processes and took the event into the future.  Spring Lake Five decided to use ChronoTrack Systems, the leader in disposable event timing. The new solution will replace the pull-tag option that the event had used for the past 32 years.

“We held off from doing chip timing in the past because our race packet had to be mailed out and the timing solution needed to be disposable,” said Philip Hinck, Race Director of the Spring Lake Five. “We mail out our race day packet ahead of time to all 9,500 participants, however only about 7,800 actually show up to run the race.  With the chip system trying to hunt down those other 1,700 chips after the race would have been a nightmare.  When we saw the disposable D-tag and how it attached to the bib, with no device to return after the race, we knew right away this was the system for us.”

ChronoTrack Systems was able to provide Spring Lake Five with the new disposable D-tag, which is attached directly to the race bib making it easy to mail using normal postage. The timing solution is becoming an event and participant favorite because of the ease of use and its disposability.  ChronoTrack Systems allows the event to have cleaner finish lines, fewer volunteers, offers the top timers in the country, and it allows athletes to focus on just competing in the event.

“It made the finish line so much easier, it significantly cut down on my volunteers, and we no longer needed anyone to man the shoots for 8,000 participants,” said Hinck.  “The athletes were able to cross the line and directly continue on to the post race festivities.” According to Hinck, using ChronoTrack Systems at the Spring Lake Five was such a success that he plans on using it at his four other large events this year.
